Overview
Description
The Coal Miner’s Cafe has been an institution in Inverness since 2003, and a restaurant under different names for many decades before that. Situated on Central Avenue in the heart of town, it has a capacity of 118 seats, with a fully equipped kitchen, liquor licences, and is wheelchair accessible. As other restaurants have come and gone over the years, the Coal Miners has been open and busy in all seasons. Beautifully renovated and decorated, it has a 14+ foot ceiling over the central area and a handsome well-stocked bar. The furniture is heavy wood, solid and in good condition. Separate from the main room is another dining room added in 2003. In total there is a large space available, and sometimes the restaurant has live music nights. There are two washrooms, with wheelchair access. An upper level deck has not been used for some time, but is a great place to sit outside in good weather, with views of the ocean. The decor accents the coal mining theme: old photos of the town from the mining days, beautiful ‘light box’ pictures high up on the walls, even a large (operating!) model train suspended from the ceiling. Heat is via hot water baseboard radiators and an oil-fired boiler. Municipal sewer and water of course. All the equipment is owned and included in the sale with the exception of a leased dishwasher. one dishwasher. Griddle, fryers etc are propane powered. A barn at the back of the property houses a walk-in cooler. A full equipment list is available on request. The property consists of 4 parcels with a total area of 7500 sq ft. The restaurant takes up over 3,000 sq ft and there is a 25’ x 20’ barn in the back. There is delivery truck access to the back of the restaurant from MacIsaac Street, and to the barn from the main street. The property is surveyed. Right in the middle of Inverness, the restaurant gets all the foot traffic. A short walk from everywhere: beach, wharf, hospital,Inverness Raceway,Cabot Links.
